The Bird Post

There’s a bit of an (accidental) bird theme going on in this post – which is pretty strange, as I’m a little wary of our feathered friends (no doubt due to a certain Hitchcock film).

elliotring2bw_200.jpgBut I love this Sterling Elliot Ring from Figs & Ginger. The site is run by the husband and wife duo, Rhonda and Elijah – metal-smiths who are inspired by nature and who make all their pieces entirely by hand. They also create custom-made wedding rings and I think there is something really special about being involved in the making of such a personal piece of jewellery, as opposed to buying the average ready-made piece.

birdpillowthumb.jpg birdmitt.jpg  The Vintage Fabric Pillow and the Bird Mitts are from Tamera Ferro at Dainty & Dirty. Tamera designs and makes all the products in the shop herself, using reclaimed and recycled fabric whenever possible. I like Tamera’s philosophy on fashion in general – a dislike of homogenised fashion – and her belief that it is possible for a woman to be both ‘gritty and glamorous’. If you’ve read my various ramblings on this blog and on the main Larkin & Catcher site, you’ll have noticed that I’ve got a bit of a thing against generic fashion and about resisting being pigeon-holed (birds again…) into ‘dictated’ fashion-looks.
